Overview:
We are a rapidly growing events production company with an impressive list of world-renowned clients, including Red Bull, ASOS, Fever Tree, Bacardi Group, and many others. We are currently looking for a detail-oriented Fabrication Manager to join our team in Shrewsbury. As the key point of contact in the Fabrication Department, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and leading our workshop facilities and staff to deliver exciting projects for clients in the Technology, Fashion, and Drinks sectors. This is a fast-paced and energetic environment that values organization and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of fabrication project managers and operatives.
- Maintain, develop, and follow departmental systems and procedures, including stock management, estimating, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Act as the point of contact for all internal business units, ensuring projects are scheduled on time and coordinated with logistics, technical production, warehouse, hire, and client teams.
- Prepare, plan, and manage workshop productivity and objectives.
- Provide project management and operations support to the senior teams.
- Develop production schedules ahead of project kick-off and utilize scheduling and organizational software.
- Ensure continued workshop compliance and management systems.
- Establish and monitor KPIs to manage and improve team performance.
- Ensure the workshop team's technical capabilities meet requirements, including recruitment strategies and managing training and development.
- Lead local fabrication services, stock management, and store process support.
- Drive rigorous health and safety practices, including safety audits, accident investigation processes, and effective risk management.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in leading a workshop/fabrication environment.
- Extensive experience in building and fabrication using a variety of materials, skills, and tools.
- Enthusiasm for an ambitious growth strategy and the opportunity to grow within the company.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to build relationships with suppliers, contractors, and colleagues.
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Level-headed problem-solver with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficient in verbal and written communication, with good IT skills (Google Suite experience preferable).
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize workload.
- Reliable and dependable with a good level of commercial awareness.
- Flexibility and willingness to take on a variety of tasks.
- Full driving license.
Preferred Additions:
- Relevant degree or supervisory/management qualification.
- Understanding of key project management elements across various event sectors (live, experiential, set, sound, rigging, light, power, logistics).
- Knowledge and use of CAD software (Sketchup, Vectorworks, AdobeSuite).
- Plant tickets for Forklift, picker, telehandler.
- Industry standard qualifications (plant tickets, H&S, first aid, etc.).
