Mechanical Engineer, UK (Full Time Permanent) - Senior and Mid-Level available


We are currently seeking to fill six Senior Mechanical Engineer positions within the Defense Maritime sector, with a focus on nuclear-powered submarines. These roles are available in various locations, including Bristol, Plymouth, Barrow on Furness, and Glasgow. While the positions offer a hybrid working model, candidates must be within a commutable distance to one of these locations. The workweek is structured as four days.


Requirements:


To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:


Essential:

 - Experience working with nuclear submarines.

 - A degree in Mechanical Engineering.


Desirable:

 - Demonstrable expertise in Propulsion/Generation or Auxiliary systems, Hull design, Naval Architecture, and/or Integrated Platform Management Systems in the submarine or surface ship domains.

 - Competence in Systems Engineering, particularly in the development, integration, and support of new capabilities within existing systems.

 - Experience in developing and managing Operating Documentation, Training Materials, Standards, and Qualifications.

 - Proficiency in Platform, Systems, and Equipment Maintenance, Support, and Through-Life Capability Management.

 - Experience in developing and managing User and System Requirements within a Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) environment.

 - Familiarity with civil nuclear operations.

 - Programme and project management skills within recognized frameworks such as PRINCE2, P3M, or Agile, including risk management.

 - Strong organizational and planning skills with a structured approach to work.

 - Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.

 - Commitment to completing work on time, within budget, and to a high quality.

 - Professional attitude when dealing with clients, stakeholders, and third-party organizations.

 - Excellent interpersonal and team behaviors with a customer-focused approach.

 - Innovation and the ability to offer new ideas to solve established problems, improve processes, and optimize output delivery.

 - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideas and focus on key issues.


Additional Information:


- Location: Hybrid working with flexibility to travel to the aforementioned locations (Bristol, Plymouth, Barrow on Furness, Glasgow). Travel and accommodation expenses are covered.

- Work hours: 40 hours a week, with flexibility in scheduling (e.g., 40 hours from Monday to Thursday, off on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).

- STEM qualification with a degree or equivalent qualification is required.

- Experience in the Defense Maritime sector with a focus on nuclear-powered submarines is highly desirable.

- Experience in the Royal Navy is beneficial but not essential if candidates have relevant experience in other submarine-related fields.

- For a Senior Engineer role, candidates are expected to be Incorporated with a professional institute.

To enhance our Consulting Team, we are seeking Systems Engineering Consultants with expertise in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Systems and Operations, Ship/Submarine Systems, or Naval Architecture. Ideally, you will have experience in the HM Forces or a defense-related sector and be skilled in managing projects, systems, and teams to deliver critical outputs to UK Defense.


Qualifications:


Candidates may also have or be working towards a professional qualification in Engineering, Programme or Project Management, Environment, Health and Safety Management, Obsolescence and Through-Life Capability Management, and/or Quality Management and Auditing.


Applicants must be UK Nationals and have or be willing to undergo Security Clearance to SC.
