Position Overview:

A top-tier law firm is seeking a mid-to-senior level associate to join its renowned Government Contracts & National Security Practice Group in Washington, D.C. This group handles a diverse range of legal work, including litigation, investigations, export controls, cybersecurity, M&A, and government counseling.


About the Practice Group:

Recognized as a Band 1 team by Chambers/Legal 500, this group represents major clients, including aerospace and defense companies, in high-stakes contract challenges and novel government agreements (such as OTAs, CRADAs, and TIAs). The team also advises on grant compliance under major federal initiatives like the Inflation Reduction Act and CHIPS Act, providing legal support in federal audits, enforcement actions, and compliance with awarding agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Litigate complex government contract disputes and award challenges
  • Conduct investigations and advise on export controls, cybersecurity, and compliance matters
  • Counsel clients on mergers, acquisitions, and transactions involving government contractors, including due diligence, asset and stock purchase agreements, and novations

Must-Have Criteria:

  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years in government contracts law or a related area
  • Skills: Strong research, writing, and analytical skills; ability to work independently, creatively, and within a team
  • Qualifications: Excellent academic credentials, references, and demonstrated interest in government contracts law
  • Special Considerations: Judicial clerkship experience in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit or the Court of Federal Claims, or academic training in government contracts law
  • Licensure: Licensed or eligible to become licensed to practice law in Washington, D.C.

Compensation:

Eligible for an hours-based bonus
