Job Title: QEHS Expert (Quality, Health & Safety, and Environment)
Location: Oberursel and Frankfurt, Germany
Job Description:
As a QEHS Expert, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the responsible use of natural resources in the industry. Your role will involve developing and implementing policies, procedures, and compliance activities to ensure organizational objectives are met. You will contribute to strategic planning and decision-making at a senior management level, aligning quality and HSE strategies with business objectives and translating them into annual plans.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and compliance activities
- Assist in strategic planning and decision-making at senior management level
- Encourage continuous improvement and a learning orientation among staff
- Manage and cultivate a proactive culture of Health and Safety management in areas with high complexity and strong business impact
- Take individual responsibility for safety standards and lead their implementation
- Supervise the implementation of safety rules and regulations according to company policies and local regulations
- Conduct safety audits and on-site inspections to identify workplace hazards and unsafe practices or conditions
- Investigate accidents, complete accident reports, and collaborate with technical specialists and external health and safety authorities to determine accident causes and prevent recurrence
- Coordinate the education and training of the organization's workforce on safety policies and standards
- Monitor and support documentation of international travel requirements and risks, particularly for construction sites in high-risk countries
- Participate in Corporate activities upon request and be a member of the BA Metals QEHS network
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders responsible for HSE compliance
Requirements:
- German Safety Specialist (SiFa) and/or internal auditor certification
- Additional certifications are an asset (e.g., fire prevention officer, paramedic, hazardous materials safety officer, dangerous goods safety advisor, NEBOSH certificate holder, ISO45001 and/or ISO 14001 auditor)
- University degree in safety and/or technical science
- Minimum 5 years of experience in HSE and conducting internal audits on international sites
- Knowledge of HSE management according to German and International Codes, Standards, and requirements (DIN EN ISO, OHSA, SiGeKo, TRGS, etc.)
- Strong understanding of risk assessments and controls
- Proficiency in MS Office 365, database applications, and Intranet communication
- Self-directed, proactive team player with excellent communication skills
- Experience working in an international matrix organization
- Solid industry understanding
- Strong planning, organizing, and performance management skills with a willingness to make decisions
- Strong conceptual and analytical skills to develop practical solutions for HSE implementation
- Willingness to travel internationally
- Excellent oral and written English skills; additional languages are a plus
