Junior to Mid-Level Associate Attorney - Cybersecurity and Data Privacy

Location: Washington, D.C., New York, NY, and Silicon Valley, CA


Our client's team (2 different Am Law 100 firms), with offices in Washington, D.C., New York, and Silicon Valley, is seeking talented junior and mid-level associates. The firm provides comprehensive solutions for a wide range of challenges, including incident response, data protection, and artificial intelligence-related legal issues. They serve Fortune 500 companies, private equity firms, and their portfolio companies across various industries, including technology, aerospace, defense, energy, finance, healthcare, telecommunications, and transportation.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • 2-4 years of experience working on cybersecurity, data privacy, or artificial intelligence issues
  • A solid understanding of federal privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA, GLBA, FCRA, CAN-SPAM, COPPA, and the FTC Act), state privacy laws (e.g., CCPA), international privacy laws and regimes (e.g., GDPR), and technology and data flows
  • Experience conducting due diligence for M&A and financings, drafting privacy and security policies, negotiating privacy-related contracts and data processing agreements, providing product counseling, and conducting privacy compliance assessments
  • Experience assisting with: (i) cybersecurity preparedness and data breach response, (ii) compliance with cybersecurity and data privacy law in the US, and/or (iii) regulatory investigations relating to cybersecurity and data privacy issues
  • Superior academic credentials
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong professional references


Experience with adtech and AI is desirable but not essential.


High level of academic achievement and solid law firm experience preferred. Work experience in the federal government or law enforcement on cybersecurity or data privacy issues, including non-legal experience, is welcome.


Exceptional candidates looking to transition to privacy and cybersecurity with experience in either M&A or technology transactions will be considered.


Compensation:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $235,000 - $310,000. The actual base salary offered may depend upon various factors, including but not limited to the qualifications of the individual applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

Candidates may be considered for positions in any of the firm's offices in Washington, D.C., New York, or Silicon Valley, depending on qualifications and preferences.
