Staff Attorney - Intellectual Property Litigation (Technology)

An Am Law 200 firm is looking for a senior-level staff attorney to join their Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group in Washington, DC. This group includes approximately 100 attorneys who provide clients with guidance throughout the life cycle of their most important assets, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, rights of publicity, trade secrets, and related issues.

Team Overview:

• Patent Litigation Team:
• Combines trial and appellate experience with strategic approaches and technological knowledge.
• Focuses on enforcing and defending patent rights in the life sciences and technology industries.

Position Requirements:

• Experience:
• Minimum of 6 years in post-grant proceedings.
• Experience with patent litigation before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).
• Education:
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Licensing:
• Must be admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• Must be currently licensed or eligible to become licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction(s).
• Skills:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct invalidity analysis of patents and prior art.
• Draft IPR (Inter Partes Review) and PGR (Post Grant Review) petitions and legal/technical arguments.
• Collaborate with experts and prepare expert testimony.
• Conduct and defend expert depositions.
• Engage in oral advocacy before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Salary:

• Washington, DC: $135,000 to $195,000, depending on experience.
