Overview

A premier national law firm is seeking a Mid-Level Environmental Litigation Associate for its Environmental and Mass Tort Litigation Department, based in the Downtown Los Angeles office. The role will focus on complex litigation involving Superfund sites (CERCLA) and other high-stakes environmental matters across federal district courts nationwide.

Associates in the group work closely with experienced partners on landmark CERCLA and Superfund site cases involving multiple parties, regulatory complexity, and substantial financial exposure.

The work is deeply substantive and offers significant federal court exposure, strategic development opportunities, and direct client interaction. Attorneys are encouraged to take ownership of matters early and collaborate across offices in a nationally integrated practice.

Salary Range: $260,000 – $355,000, depending on experience and credentials.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with a strong academic record
  • 3–5 years of experience in a top 100 law firm, with a focus on CERCLA and large Superfund site litigation
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex environmental litigation and regulatory matters
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage with clients, regulators, and internal teams
  • Admission to the California Bar is required
