In-House Counsel, Am Law 50 Firm
An Am Law 50 firm is seeking an experienced employment attorney with 7+ years of experience to join their in-house Office of the General Counsel. The In-House Employment Counsel will play a crucial role in advising the firm on employment law matters, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and firm policies. This attorney will support colleagues on employment issues across all offices within the firm.
- Provide legal counsel and guidance on a wide range of labor and employment matters, including workplace complaints and investigations, HR-related litigation, terminations, policies and procedures, and overall compliance.
- Conduct internal investigations and manage all phases of employment-related disputes, including pre-litigation, litigation, and dispute resolution. Oversee outside counsel as needed.
- Monitor developments in employment and HR-related laws and regulations at local, state, and federal levels to ensure compliance. Provide proactive, strategic advice to relevant stakeholders.
- Assist with firmwide projects and initiatives, including new policy creation and implementation, and the development and delivery of training programs.
- Work closely with internal departments and teams across the firm, including HR, Attorney Development, Management, and Compliance to address legal matters effectively and proactively.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of legal matters and actions taken to ensure transparency and accountability.
- 7+ years of experience practicing employment law, preferably in a law firm or in-house corporate legal department setting.
- Experience with employee investigations, employment litigation, and dispute resolution.
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and admission to the New York Bar.
- In-depth knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion.
Salary Range: $300,000 - $500,000 annually (Actual salary determined based on skills, experience, and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law).
