Mid-level Government Contracts Associate

Location: Washington, DC

An AM Law 200 law firm seeks a mid-level associate to join its Government Contracts Team in its Washington, D.C. office. This position plays a vital role in supporting the team's work on various government contracting matters.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel to clients on issues related to Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and its supplements.
• Assist with bid protests and ensure compliance with government contracting regulations.
• Advise clients on federal grant compliance and related requirements.
• Draft and review legal documents, such as contracts, subcontracts, teaming agreements, and joint venture agreements (as applicable).
• May participate in due diligence processes for government contracts M&A transactions (as applicable).

Qualifications

• Admitted to the bar in the District of Columbia or eligible for waiver upon start date.
• 3-5 years of experience practicing government contracts law: at a large/mid-sized national firm, a government contracts boutique firm, or within the government.
• Proven experience in bid protests and a strong understanding of FAR and its supplements.
• Experience counseling clients on federal grant compliance (preferred).
• Highly preferred, but not required: prior experience in federal court litigation, government contracts investigations (e.g., CDA claims, FCA/whistleblower claims, prime-subcontractor disputes); drafting/negotiating government contracts, and performing due diligence on government contracts M&A transactions.
