Position Overview:

A prestigious law firm is seeking a senior attorney with extensive post-grant proceedings experience to join its Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group in Washington, D.C. This role focuses on patent litigation in post-grant contexts, particularly for clients in the life sciences and technology sectors.


About the IP & Technology Practice Group:

The group consists of approximately 100 attorneys who support clients in managing and protecting their critical IP assets. The Patent Litigation team is highly skilled in trial and appellate advocacy, leveraging strategic and technical expertise to protect clients' patents and other IP assets, with a strong focus on life sciences and advanced technology.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct invalidity analysis of patents and prior art
  • Draft petitions and develop technical/legal arguments for IPR (Inter Partes Review) and PGR (Post Grant Review)
  • Collaborate with and prepare expert witnesses, including drafting expert testimony and handling expert depositions
  • Represent clients in oral advocacy before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB)


Must-Have Criteria:

  • Experience: Minimum of 6 years in post-grant proceedings and patent litigation before the PTAB
  • Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • Licensure: Admission to practice before the USPTO, along with licensure or eligibility for licensure in Washington, D.C.
  • Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, with proven technical and legal argumentation abilities


Compensation:

$250,000 - $280,000, based on experience, with eligibility for an hours-based bonus
