About the Role
Our client seeks a seasoned Corporate & Business Law Partner to lead complex transactions, deepen client relationships, and help scale a high-performing practice. The ideal partner combines exceptional deal execution with strategic business development, team leadership, and a client-first mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Transactions: Originate, negotiate, and close M&A (buy- and sell-side), minority/majority investments, joint ventures, corporate reorganizations, and strategic alliances.
- General Corporate Counsel: Serve as outside GC to growth and middle-market clients on governance, fiduciary duties, shareholder matters, commercial contracts, and risk management.
- Client Development: Build and manage a personal book; expand existing accounts; craft go-tomarket initiatives with marketing and BD teams.
- Practice Leadership: Mentor and supervise associates; promote knowledge management, process improvement, and training; contribute to partner-level planning and lateral integration.
- Quality & Risk: Ensure matter budgets, staffing, and timelines are aligned; maintain best-in-class work product and compliance with firm risk protocols.
- Community & Brand: Publish, present, and participate in targeted industry groups to elevate the firm’s profile.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school; strong academic record.
- Active bar membership in MA; eligibility to waive in or sit for reciprocity if needed.
- 8+ years of sophisticated corporate/business law experience at an AmLaw, leading regional, or highly regarded boutique firm.
- Demonstrated originations and client retention; portable book of approximately $750k+ (flexible for compelling candidates).
- Proven first-chair responsibility running deal teams and negotiating principal agreements.
- Comfortable coordinating multi-disciplinary and cross-border matters.
- Excellent communication, team leadership, and business acumen.
