The Charlotte office of a leading law firm is looking for an E-Discovery Attorney to join their Financial Services & Securities Enforcement Department. The firm, known for its global reach and top-tier legal solutions, has been serving corporate, individual, and nonprofit clients since 1834. About the Department

The Financial Services & Securities Enforcement group at the firm specializes in representing the dynamic financial services sector, handling cases related to:

  • Securities and lender liability
  • Regulatory issues
  • Loan workouts and foreclosures
  • Class actions and credit card-related matters

This department works with financial institutions on issues such as securities fraud, asset securitization failures, and syndicated loan defaults. The team also represents banks in commercial disputes, business torts, and intellectual property cases.


Position Overview

The E-Discovery Attorney will play a critical role in managing e-discovery processes for complex financial litigation cases. This role involves working closely with clients and legal teams to effectively manage discovery from inception to completion.


Key Responsibilities

  • E-Discovery Management: Oversee the entire discovery process, including preservation, review, production, and privilege logs.
  • Client Advising: Guide clients on preservation issues and assist with implementing legal holds.
  • Witness Interviews: Conduct interviews to assess the scope and volume of document collection.
  • Request Evaluation: Analyze discovery requests and form objections when necessary.
  • Document Management: Coordinate the collection, review, and production of documents, ensuring the process aligns with the case's goals and requirements.
  • Communication: Keep the case team informed of discovery progress, reporting on accomplishments, remaining work, and cost estimates.
  • Project Planning: Collaborate with case teams, clients, and vendors to define project budgets, objectives, and timelines.
  • Technical Proficiency: Utilize tools like Relativity for searches, document management, and e-discovery tasks.
  • Litigation Support: Assist in developing case facts, supporting depositions, motions, and trials.


Qualifications

  • Experience:
  • Minimum 2+ years of e-discovery experience; litigation experience is a plus.
  • Strong background in managing large e-discovery projects is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency with Relativity and other review platforms.
  • Legal Expertise:
  • Thorough understanding of litigation processes and substantive aspects.
  • Proven ability to manage end-to-end e-discovery tasks efficiently.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to navigate tight deadlines and adapt to unexpected challenges.
