Job Description Summary

An opportunity is available for a Junior Associate with two (2) to four (4) years of experience in healthcare privacy and other areas of privacy law to join a Chambers-ranked Privacy & Cybersecurity practice. The associate will assist in advising clients as they develop products and services, draft and update privacy policies, procedures, training materials, notifications, forms of consent, and related documents, and provide general privacy counseling. This position is available in Silicon Valley, Santa Monica, and Washington D.C. offices.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in advising clients on privacy and cybersecurity issues.
• Draft and update privacy policies, procedures, training materials, notifications, forms of consent, and related documents.
• Provide general privacy counseling.
• Conduct privacy compliance assessments and product counseling.
• Investigate, remediate, and draft notifications for privacy and security incidents.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

• A solid understanding of:
• HIPAA/Healthcare Privacy
• Consumer Privacy
• Health Information Privacy and Human Subjects Research
• Federal (HIPAA) and State (CMIA, Washington My Health My Data Act, Nevada SB 370) Healthcare Privacy Laws
• Other Federal Privacy Laws, such as GLBA, FCRA, COPPA, and the FTC Act
• Comprehensive State Privacy Laws, such as the CCPA
• International Privacy Laws and Regimes, such as the EU’s GDPR
• General Technology and Data Flows
• Experience in:
• Drafting privacy policies and negotiating privacy-related contracts and data processing agreements (BAAs, DPAs, DUAs).
• Providing product counseling and conducting privacy compliance assessments.
• Investigating, remediating, and drafting notifications for privacy and security incidents.
• Desirable but not essential experience with adtech and cybersecurity.
• Superior academic credentials.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong professional references.

Bar Membership: California or District of Columbia bar membership (as appropriate) or eligibility to take the next available exam is required.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $235,000 - $310,000

The actual base salary offered may depend upon various factors, including the applicant's qualifications, years of relevant experience, education level, certifications, professional licenses, and, if applicable, the applicant's location.
